FX Crown Moderator

105.00

Short, light weight, quiet, accurate, and with minimal POI shift. These are the ideal characteristics for any airgun moderator, and the technical challenge presented by all moderator designs. We utilize the concept of a Nikola Tesla’s Gas Diode to create a moderator which is about 60 grams, 35mm in diameter, and only adds 120mm to the rifle’s overall length attaching directly to the factory shroud. This is smaller and considerably lighter than the overwhelming majority of other moderators out there. Despite this, the moderator performs on par or better than moderators much larger. The bore is a nominal 8.5mm diameter, which has been tested up to .25 caliber.*

How does it work? The concept of a Tesla Gas Diode is to reflex flowing gasses back on themselves, thus impeding forward flow. This makes up the inner sections of the moderator. The outer sections take advantage of the Crown’s factory shroud and muzzle brake. These structures pick up the gas from inside the shroud, and vent it directly to the perimeter of the moderator. Here it is swirled, slowed, and quieted before ultimately being ejected through a series of spiral vents. Just how effective is this design? The answer to that question is complicated, and for those so inclined we have an extensive blog series on the subject, however the short version is that this was the quietest configuration out of all tests.

Multiple design revisions are available, and cores are replaceable by us (STO) so users inclined to experiment or who own earlier revs. can upgrade variants at discount. All variants are essentially identical in size, plus or minus a few millimeters, however weight may vary more significantly.

*We test our designs on .22 caliber. The Crown relies on a lot of stacked tolerances for alignment of the shroud, so care should be taken to ensure alignment/clearance. Customers have reported great results from .25 caliber rifles as well. To our knowledge the design has not been tested on .30 caliber. The bore diameter is a nominal 8.5mm.

OG gas diode.png

rev.1

Stable design, third party tested, and highly effective. Performs above industry standards in size, weight, and length classes.

gas diode rev.2.png

rev.2

Stable design, even more effective than rev.1 by a significant margin. The linear gas diodes at the rear first blunt the air flow, then the sound is mopped up with special sound dampening materials. This significantly out-performs both pure sound-absorbing designs and pure baffle designs.
