Scope Polarizer
Scope Polarizer
Glare from snow, water, glass, and wet vegetation doesn't just obscure your target, it causes eye strain during extended sessions. A polarizing filter cuts reflected light selectively, improving contrast and target clarity without affecting POI, eye relief, or eye box. This one mounts to your scope's ocular via a tool-less collet system, fits ocular diameters from 28-46mm, and weighs 30 grams excluding the collet.
Key Features:
Superior Glare Reduction: Cut through reflections from snow, water, and glass while enhancing target visibility in bright conditions
Professional-Grade Optics: Photography-quality polarizing filter improves contrast and reduces washout without affecting POI, eye relief, or eye box
Precision Collet System: Tool-less installation using our proven collet system, accommodating ocular diameters from 28-46mm with individual collets for precise fit
Lightweight Design: Just 30 grams (excluding collet), ensuring minimal impact on your rifle's balance
Intuitive Adjustment: Choose between set-and-forget installation, or optional access window model which allows quick polarizer rotation for adapting to changing glare conditions
Secure Mounting: Ribbed body and tightening ring provide confident grip for easy installation and adjustment
Collet Compatibility: Available as individual collets or a complete set of 11 collets spanning 28-46mm. (custom collet designs available upon request)
Available in set-and-forget or quick-rotation window variants. Single collets or a complete 11-collet set spanning 28-46mm. Free collet STL files available for download if you'd prefer to make your own.
You can download our complete collet library (28-46mm) for free, or create custom collets to meet your own specifications. Collets run on an 18° taper with 50mm OD so are simple and easy to design. Engineering and fabrication services available for custom requirements.
What Does a Polarizer Actually Do?
When light reflects off non-metallic surfaces (water, snow, glass, foliage), it becomes partially polarized, oscillating predominantly in a single plane parallel to the reflecting surface. A linear polarizer selectively transmits light based on polarization orientation. By rotating the filter perpendicular to the polarized glare component, you achieve maximum exclusion of reflected light while preserving unpolarized direct illumination from your target.
The result is enhanced contrast and clarity through selective glare attenuation rather than simple neutral density filtration, you're eliminating optical noise without proportionally reducing signal.
Real-World Applications:
Snow/water: Eliminate specular reflections causing target washout
Glass/vehicles: Reduce surface reflections to reveal obscured subjects
Atmospheric scatter: Minimize Rayleigh scattering and haze in bright conditions
Vegetation: Cut glare from reflective or wet leaf surfaces
Window vs. No Window: Design Trade-offs
Polarization efficiency is angle-dependent. Maximum attenuation occurs when the transmission axis is perpendicular to the polarized light's oscillation plane.
Set-and-Forget (No Window): Optimize polarizer angle during collet installation for known lighting geometries. Ideal for consistent shooting conditions and maximum element protection.
Quick-Rotation (With Window): Field-adjustable rotation for dynamic conditions. Valuable when sun angle changes, transitioning between environments, or when glare orientation shifts with shooting position. The window maintains element protection while enabling adjustment without loosening the collet.
