The stock Shapeoko 5 drag chain brackets are functional, but marginal -- especially on water-cooled spindle builds where stiff coolant lines put lateral pressure on the chain and cause it to walk off its mounting ledge. The left-side replacement bracket is stiffer, taller to reduce chain bend radius and better align coolant tubing, and includes an optional guide that keeps the chain seated where it belongs.

A right-side bracket is also available if you want a matched set, but the factory right-side bracket is adequate -- the left is where the problem lives on water-cooled builds. If you're running an air-cooled spindle without rigid tubing, you may not need either.
